Rainy Day Manicure: Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in Elegantly Wasted

Rainy Day Manicure: Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in Elegantly Wasted

Hi, friends! Today I wanted to share with you a nail polish I've been really liking lately: Trust Fund Beauty's Elegantly Wasted. (Can we talk about that name, though? I love it). I don't paint my nails on a regular basis, but I always find it to be a nice little treat--especially on the rainy day when things look gloomy and dull.

Rainy Day Manicure: Review and Swatches of Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in Elegantly Wasted

I discovered Trust Fund Beauty when I received Elegantly Wasted in an Ipsy bag (review) last year. For as much as I complained about Ipsy when I first started my blog, I can't deny that I've found some pretty cool products thanks to them.

They started out doing nail polish, and their scandalous names are what first got me interested in them. I suppose it's a good marketing tactic, but I just find them quirky and fun. With names like "Boy Tears," how can you not take a look? "Tax the Rich" is another one that makes me giggle, and it also helps that I love a good cobalt blue.

There are a few names that, if a stranger asked me what nail polish I was wearing, I'd probably be a little weird saying ("Oh, that's "But...Daddy" on my nails. Thanks for asking."). But overall, I think they're amusing.

I've recently discovered that they've started making lip products, too. There's not a very helpful description on their website, but judging by the photos and the current trends, I'm assuming their matte liquid lipsticks. They also offer a sort of monthly subscription service, where you get two products shipped for free every month. I don't know much about it, so if anyone's tried it, definitely leave a comment letting me know!

About "Elegantly Wasted"

Is it possible to be elegantly wasted? Oh well, not important.

The description of this color is "If you enjoy yourself, it’s not really a waste - it’s your prerogative." I LOVE IT! This is a beautiful dark lilac color that is more adventurous than your typical nude pink, but not as in-your-face as something like green or orange. It's a great middle-ground if you're looking to branch out. I'm definitely more adventurous with my nail color than I am with my makeup, though I think it would be fun to try this color as an eyeliner. It does resemble one of the Pantone Colors of 2016, doesn't it?

Let's talk about the formula. At $15 a bottle, you would hope it applies nicely--and good news, it does! It can be opaque with one thick coat, but I opted for two thinner ones in hopes it would last longer.

I took these nail swatch photos on Day 3, and they it still looked freshly applied. As I'm typing this (on Day 4), I'm seeing some minor chips on a finger or two, but other than that I'm pretty impressed with the staying power. It could also have something to do with the trust base coat and top coats I'm using right now: Sally Hansen's Miracle Cure ($9, found on Amazon for $5) and Formula X Shine Nail Top Coat ($10.50), respectively, but I've used these with other polishes and haven't gone as long without a chip.

Overall, I think this is a hit. It's definitely pricier than your typical O.P.I. or Essie, but it comes with a solid formula and a cheeky name, so it's up to you if it's worth the increase in price.

What's on your nails right now?
