Today, I figured we could do the same thing with my nude lipstick collection. I've never been much of a nude lipstick person, but in the last few months of 2015, I might have become a believer.
I know I love looking through people's makeup collections to learn about what products they like to use (or maybe I'm just nosy), so I hope you guys feel the same. I figured this deserved a part two, so without further ado, let's get to the good stuff~
NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien ($26 | .07oz) - You might remember this mini lip pencil being in the Sephora Beauty Insider birthday gift last year (along with the other color mentioned in The Reds). I wore this on the first day of the #5DayLipstickChallenge on my Instagram. The formula is great, very creamy and smooth. The swatch below doesn't do justice to the amount of shine this gives off. It's almost metallic, without being a gloss. Very pretty! I would say it's a good introduction to nude lipsticks, since it's not super opaque or matte. It goes with just about any makeup look. I think I'm more partial to the matte formula, which is odd for me since I love lip glosses so much, but it's merely a matter of preference.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick in N9 ($20 | 3.5g) - If this deluxe lipstick sample also looks familar, that's because it was in the Sephora birthday gift for 2014. Yes, I was dragged kicking and screaming into nude and neutral lipstick land by freebies. This is a coppery pink color with a natural-looking satin formula. Make Up For Ever (MUFE) is known for making professional-quality products, and I have to say, I think they're right! This lipstick is very comfortable on the lips. It has a bit of a rosy hue, so it's not scary like a straight-up brown, and goes with essentially anything. I would definitely like to look into getting more of these, as well as trying some of their other products.
CLINIQUE Chubby Stick Moisturizing Color Balm in Melon ($17 | .01oz) - Now this is my kind of lip product. It's more pigmented than a tinted lip balm, but definitely feels like one. Very comfortable to wear, and being that it's a sheer nude color, you don't really need a mirror (unless you're me, in which case you do, for anything). I received this in my Birchbox for October 2015, and it got just a tad melty, but it's still good! This is the kind of product where I could buy one in every color and be very, very happy.
NICKA K Hydro Lipstick in Concerto ($5 | .12oz) - This lipstick came in my Beauty Box 5 and I can't say I've worn it much. It's a pretty color, leaning on the coral side of nude, but it's just very "meh." The formula is average, and although it's not drying, I wasn't really feeling the hydration from the "Hydro" either. I just don't find myself reaching for it when I have nicer lipsticks in my collection.
JOUER Hydrating Liptick in Doris ($24 | .12oz) - Look familiar? This was the third color I featured for the Instagram challenge I mentioned above. This is the brown-tinted color I think of when I hear "nude." It came in my Lovely Day LE Birchbox the same month as I received the lipstick below, so I was convinced the universe was trying to tell me to try something new. It's a little sheerer than the ModelCo lipstick I mention below. It "feels' expensive, with the weighted gold packaging, and the formula feels expensive, too. The lipstick itself feels nice and creamy. and glides across the lips easily. I would gladly purchase other colors in this line.
MODEL CO Party Proof Lipstick (Cream) in Dusk Til Dawn ($17 | .13oz) - I received this in my Birchbox for May 2015, but didn't get the courage to pull it out until the following September. I'm really glad I did though! I took this for a test drive in my Greek Goddess Makeup Challenge post for Gaea, and was surprised at how well it accompanied the earth tones on my eyes (which is sad, considering as a painter it's basically my job to know how colors work). I liked it even more after applying a slightly gold lip gloss on top. I'm seriously surprised with how much I liked this. I think I prefer the moisturizing formula of the Jouer a little bit more, but this is still a great pick (and it's almost $10 cheaper).
See, trying new things is good once in awhile! Maybe now I can branch out and add some pinky nudes to my collection.

Wow, I'm realizing right now that these all look startlingly similar in their swatches... But they're all different! I swear! (It's fine...I don't have a problem...what addiction?)
