Hello, friends! I know your eyes are probably bugging out of your head at the sight of an Ipsy review on this blog. I mentioned in my July Mail Time! that I had resubscribed, and I wasn't lying. When a pink envelope came in the mail, even my brother was like, "Wow, I haven't seen one of these in awhile." So let's take a look inside and see what we've got here!
Ipsy? What's that?
Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service that sends you five products with a themed makeup bag for $10/month. They offer a variety of products that change monthly, and determine which ones you receive based on the results of your beauty profile quiz. Ipsy also has a rewards program, in which you can earn points for reviewing products and redeem them for prizes. This month they sampled products from Tarte, Ole Henrikson, Essie, and plenty of others! If you're interested in subscribing, I would love it if you used my Ipsy referral link! Thank you!
This month's theme is Summer Lovin'. I have to admit, Ipsy has always been a little better at keeping with the themes than Birchbox. I have at least eight of these bags hanging out in a drawer somewhere, since they really do start to build up for awhile. But this one is so pretty! They've definitely gotten cuter since I was last subscribed.
Though one thing that I still wish Ipsy would do is put in an information card. I love knowing what the full names of the products are, how much they cost, and getting little tips on how to use them. You're on your own with this!
But enough about that. Let's get to the good stuff~

BELLAPIERRE | Mineral Lipstick in P.I.N.K.
(Full-size value [.123 oz]: $20)
(Full-size value [.123 oz]: $20)
I've never heard of this brand before, but I like the formula of this lipstick. It's not the best out there (and of course it doesn't compare to my beloved Revlon Lip Butters) but it's smooth and it's a great color for me. They call this a hot pink, but for me it's more like a medium pink shade to me. I like that it's a little sheerer, and I think it'll make a great everyday lipstick for me. I'm not sure that I would pay $20 for it, since there are plenty of lipstick options that are just as good (if not better) at the drugstore, but I'll take it! Scroll below for swatches galore.
TINI BEAUTY Eyeliner in Blue Hawaiian
(Full-size value [.2g]: $18)
(Full-size value [.2g]: $18)
I've heard good things about Tini products from previous Ipsy bags, so I was hoping this would be another winner. This is a mechanical screw-up liner, which means no sharpening. This eyeliner is creamy and pigmented, and staying power isn't half bad. When I tried to wash off my swatch with a washcloth, it faded a bit, but it didn't immediately melt away. I wouldn't trust it on oily eyelids without a primer and a powder to set it, but I think it could work!
I'm in love with the color I got. It's so bright and fun for summer! And best of all--it's not black! I have so many unopened black eyeliners from subscription boxes!

JOREL PARKER Eau de Parfum in Classico
(Mini rollerball value [.29oz]: $21) (Full-size cost [1.7oz]: $55)
(Mini rollerball value [.29oz]: $21) (Full-size cost [1.7oz]: $55)
I'd never heard of Jorel Parker before, but when I looked them up, I saw they were part of Harvey Prince! I've gotten them in Birchboxes and at blogger events before and liked them, so it was good news. This perfume is stated to contain tuberose, mandarin, and Turkish Cyclamen (whatever that is). To me, it kind of reminds me of walking through the fragrance aisle at Macy's. It's kind of a strong "perfumey" scent to me, but I might wear it when I want to feel grown-up or something.
JERSEY SHORE COSMETICS | Mongongo Lip Conditioner in Coconut
(Full-size cost [.15oz]: $10)
(Full-size cost [.15oz]: $10)
I was happily surprised at how soft and smooth this lip balm was! A lot of off-brand lip balms seem to have that hard, waxy feel, but this one was quite nice. It also has a delicious sweet coconut smell. Everything was going great, until I saw this lip balm cost $10. Ten whole dollars, for a lip balm? Madness! If I wanted a luxurious lip balm, I would go a few dollars more and try one from Fresh or Dior. Still, I will enjoy this one while I've got it!
TARTE | Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in Park Ave Princess
(Sample-size value: $10) (Full-size cost [.32oz]: $30)
Holy cow! What a prize! I've been wanting to try Tarte's Amazonian Clay products, and I'm totally happy with this one! This is definitely a bronzer (as opposed to a contour powder) since it has tiny shimmer particles, but it'll look gorgeous in the sun! It looks like it'll be a great color for me, and my bronzer collection was sorely lacking. The only thing I wish this had was a mirror, but I guess you can't win 'em all. I can't wait to play with this some more!
From left to right: Bellapierre lipstick, Tini Beauty Eyeliner, Tarte Bronzer |
I actually think all of these would go great together in a makeup look. I'll have to try that out sometime!
The Stats:
- Bellapierre Cosmetics Lipstick: $20
- Tini Beauty Eyeliner: $18
- Jorel Parker Perfume: $21
- Jersey Shore Lip Balm: $10
- Tarte Bronzer: $10
- TOTAL: $69 (HOLY MOLY CAJOLEE)
The Best:
I'm super excited about all the pretty makeup products I got!The Worst:
I don't see myself reaching for the perfume much, but with fragrances it's hard to please everyone. It's a good size, either way.The Verdict:
Um, so can we talk about the value? Seriously. I mean, honestly, are all of these products worth their listed price? Probably not. But still, that's the highest value I think I've ever gotten in a $10 subscription box. Ipsy sure knows how to bring it. I'm super impressed, and I'll definitely be staying on for another month. I can't wait to see the sneak peeks!
