Hi, friends! It's getting near the end of the month, which means it's time to share with you the products I've used up this month (aka my trash). I'll tell you what I thought of them, if I would repurchase them, and it'll be oh-so fun. I didn't do one of these Empties posts for April, so we have quite a bit to get through. Let's get started!
FEKKAI Brilliant Glossing Shampoo ($20 for 8oz)
I received this in my
January Birchbox, and since subscription boxes are the reason I never have to purchase shampoo, I got around to trying this out. To me, it's no better than any other drugstore shampoo, though the price would say otherwise. I would use it again, but it didn't
wow me, and for the price I would like to be at least a little enthusiastic about it. This is a sulfate-shampoo, just like all the others, so I'd rather save some money and purchase a bigger bottle of shampoo for a quarter of the price.
BENEFIT COSMETICS Fakeup ($24 for .12oz)
I received this in my
October Birchbox, and it lasted me a lot longer than I thought it would! I didn't use it up 100%, but after a certain point, I had used up the majority of the concealer and it wouldn't roll up anymore past the rim. I was using a concealer brush to get it out, but since it has the moisture ring around it, it wasn't quite performing as well as it had used to. I was having to use the ELF Daily Moisture Stick to prevent it from looking cakey, and it was just getting to be a hassle. It was just really time to throw it away, as hard as that was for me. I just opened a brand new, full-size of it, so no hard feelings.
FRESH Soy Face Cleanser ($38 for 5.1oz)
This came in a kit with my
Clarisonic Mia 2, and after using it daily, it's finally all gone! I really liked this cleanser--it gets makeup off, it's sulfate-free, and it makes my face clean without making it feel
too clean (when my face feels squeaky clean, it means all of the moisture has been sucked out of it). I would repurchase it, but right now I'm using a cleanser I like even BETTER. I just got a 32oz bottle of Philosophy's Purity cleanser, so I won't be needing to buy anything for awhile.
SEVENTH GENERATION Boosts Soothing Skin Serum ($15 for 1.5oz)
This is my Holy Grail (HG) serum! It was in my
2013 Favorites. It's perfect for my skin type and what I look for in a product: short ingredients list, inexpensive, widely accessible, and makes my dry skin feel incredibly soft. For more information, you can check out my
full review, which was featured on
Lucky's website.
JERGENS BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream ($13 for 7.5oz)
I received this in my
March Birchbox, and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. It's not really a BB cream--it doesn't have an SPF or provide any real benefits to your skin--but it's not quite a self-tanner, either. It contains DHA, which is what makes self-tanners work, so they really should have called this a weak self-tanner. You won't apply it and see a difference (it's actually invisible on my skin after I apply it), but it supposedly will make skin look firmer and corrected, as tans tend to do. I didn't really notice a difference, but I didn't use it for five consecutive days like the directions said, either. I just got a new one in my
May Mail Time!, so maybe this time I'll actually use it as directed and be able to tell a difference in my skin after five days.
AVEENO Skin Relief Hand Cream ($7 for 3.5oz)
I mentioned this product in my
Aveeno Brand Overview. It's just a hand cream to me, and not an exceptional one at that. It's simply average, and since I have ones I like better (the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula is a great, affordable option). It's kind of lightweight for a hand cream, and my hands didn't feel completely moisturized after using it.
The Body Shop Mini Mango Body Butter ($6 for 1.7oz)
Being a long-time fan of
Perlier Body Butters, I scoff at this being called a Body Butter, but I still really like it. It's a very thick cream that has an
amazing scent. I just want to bathe in it. I think this is a wonderful body cream and a very good price for what it is. They also make a larger size (6.75oz for $20), which is a better deal, but this is an affordable option if you just want to test out the scent and consistency to see if you like it. I would repurchase this if I didn't have an entire basket of body lotion right now (yes, I keep all of my lotion in a wicker basket). The Body Shop has sales often, so if you're interested in trying anything from them, wait for a sale (because friends don't let friends pay full price).
Well, that's everything for now! This is only about half the products I used up between now and my last
Empties post, but I didn't want this to turn into a novel. Hopefully I don't use up too many more things between now and June!
